Mr. Goldstein serves as the Principal of CSG Consulting providing critical insights and leadership on such issues as immigration, civil rights, community relations, security programming, and Israel advocacy.
As Chief of Staff and Senior Counsel to Assemblyman Raj Mukherji, Mr. Goldstein directed all aspects of staff management, legislative initiatives, community outreach, speech-writing and other related issues.
As Executive Director of the New Jersey Immigration Policy Network (NJIPN), Mr. Goldstein played a critical role in promoting comprehensive immigration reform at the Federal level and immigrant integration at the State and Local levels. He worked directly with a variety of national organizations including Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM), American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), National Immigration Reform, American Immigration Law Foundation, the Rights Working Group (RWG) and Immigration Policy Center. Mr. Goldstein led a coalition of over fifty New Jersey-based organizations.
As a member of Governor Jon Corzine’s Blue Ribbon Panel on Immigrant Integration Policy, he helped provide the structure and focus of the Panel and promote crucial agenda items regarding New Jersey’s immigrant communities, including In-State Tuition, health care, proper training for law enforcement, establishment of an Office of Immigrant Affairs, economic, social and cultural integration of immigrants, bilingual education programming and other policies to empower the state of New Jersey and its immigrant population.
Mr. Goldstein’s accomplishments as the National Director for the Labor Division of the Development Corporation of Israel (Israel Bonds) include organizing public affairs conferences in Washington, D.C., Las Vegas, and New York. He created, organized, and led the Bahr/Rabin United States Labor Delegation to Israel. Mr. Goldstein represented Israel Bonds at union-based programs throughout the United States and Israel. He was Instrumental in negotiating $10 million purchase of Israel Bonds by the State of New Jersey and approximately an additional $100 million throughout the United States.
During his tenure as New Jersey Regional Director of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), he worked directly with the Black Ministers’ Council of New Jersey, the Latino Alliance of New Jersey, the NAACP, state and federal officials, and others in combating racial profiling. As a curative program, he helped establish mandatory diversity training for the New Jersey State Police. He served as one of New Jersey’s key leaders in combating all forms of bias and discrimination and coordinated a number of programs promoting strong Israel-American relations and addressing other foreign policy and human rights issues. Mr. Goldstein coordinated numerous security seminars and counter-terrorism programs with Jewish and community institutions. He created a special training program in conjunction with the United States Armed Forces at Fort Dix/McGuire Air Force Base for military personnel. He appeared on all major television networks on both the local and national level as well as being quoted in articles and editorials including -The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Bergen Record, The Atlantic City Press, Home News Tribune, Star Ledger and other newspapers throughout the state and region. He has also appeared on FOX News and CNN and Television/Radio stations throughout the New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia markets.
As Political Director in New Jersey for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), he played a leadership role in promoting national health care reform, the rights of public sector employees, and the responsibility to ensure full funding and best practices for the developmentally disabled and other vulnerable citizens and residents. Mr. Goldstein helped coordinate efforts to prevent the bonding of and borrowing from New Jersey’s public sector pension system, the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), and privatization of public services and employees and an ill-conceived federal balanced budget constitutional amendment.
Mr. Goldstein’s legal background includes serving as First Assistant Municipal Prosecutor in Atlantic City, Atlantic County Assistant Prosecutor, and Associate with the firm of Selikoff & Cohen where he practiced labor, education, and administrative law. During his tenure at Selikoff & Cohen, he served as pro bono counsel for three branches of the NAACP in South Jersey.
Mr. Goldstein is a graduate of Drew University where he received a B.A. in Political Science and Suffolk University School of Law.
